Would Aliens Eat Humans? - The Cosmic Companion 27 Oct. 2021
Would aliens landing on Earth be here to eat us, or enslave us all to work on alien farms?
Would aliens eat humans (or other life on Earth) following the unexpected arrival of extraterrestrials on Earth?
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is often considered to be the first work of science-fiction, but a handful of tales of aliens are found before her time. One of the earliest of these involve war between worlds (or, one satellite and one star. Close enough.).
Lucian, a Ancient Greek satirist who lived in Second Century Roman Empire (in what is now Syria and Egypt), wrote fabulously popular satires of society and those who make extraordinary claims.
A story in True History tells of his journey to the Moon, when a ship he inhabited was blown to the lunar surface by a fountain. Once there, he encountered Moon people, who told him of their war against the people of the Sun. The motive behind this conflict was a disagreement over the colonization of the Morning Star (Venus). This is not to be confused with the “galactic trade dispute” that seems to kick off half of the films in the Star Wars series.
