The Past and Present of The Cosmic Companion
Where we are at, and where we are going, with The Cosmic Companion.
Hello all:
Thank you so much for subscribing to The Cosmic Companion. We appreciate all our subscribers, on both the free and paid plans.
We have an amazing future ahead of us, and a whole lot of changes coming. And, the present presents some challenges.
At one point, not too long ago, each episode of our show took around two days to write and shoot, and three days to produce. That made it feasible to create a show every week, plus put out regular extras for VIP subscribers and share outtakes etc., with all members. That is no longer the case.
The current version of the show (which is far more intricate and complex) still takes two days to write and shoot, while the production is now running four-five days. That makes it impossible to fit into a single week, and still give me some time to have a day off here and there. There were many weeks I was still furiously working on an episode all day on Saturday, which isn’t ideal.
So, we are moving the show to every two weeks, and taking a two-month hiatus from episodes during September and October.
And, yesterday, I opened up the studio in the morning to find our main computer knocked out. After an entire day of work, I was able to diagnose that it needs a new video card. So - it could be worse, but that means this week’s episode (Pondering the Overview Effect w/ Frank White) will be delayed.
But - it’s not all doom-and-gloom! Until the computer setback, work was proceeding well on the upcoming film, The Wizard and The Scholar, with about 33 of 70 minutes already complete. Once I have a fully-functional computer at my fingertips, we should be at the half-way point soon!
So over the next couple of months, we have two more amazing episodes coming up, then I will finally be able to have time again to share outtakes, news, etc., with you as events unfold.
The show should be back in November.
AND — The Wizard and The Scholar — an entertaining, pro-science, pro-education, buddy story of two amazing women in Medieval England — comes out this autumn. This AI-powered film will be one of the most advanced feature films yet made at the dawn of the sixth great age of filmmaking.
And you, my dear subscribers, will be at the cutting edge of film, education, and artificial intelligence.
Strap yourselves in. This is going to be one heck of a ride.
Clear skies!
James
