What will living in space be like? We talk with Paul Albert-Lebrun, Product Manager at Kepler Communications, bringing the internet to space
The Future of Living in Space
Hello everyone:
First of all, welcome to yesterday! My apologies for not getting yesterday’s show out until today, but unavoidable delays led to you not seeing this episode until now. But, that is the past (or at best, the present), and we are here to talk about… the FUTURE!
As our species begins to move beyond our planetary cradle, what will life be like for the first generations of humans living in space?
Somewhere around two million years ago, our earliest human ancestors evolved in the wilds of southern and eastern Africa.
Soon, the first tentative steps outside the African continent may have been made by Homo Erectus travelers, exploring the distant horizon.
It was not until somewhere between 60,000 and 80,000 years ago that prehistoric humans first made their way, en masse, to another continent — Asia. About 45,000 years before our time, our distant predecessors made it to Australia and Indonesia. Roughly 5,000 years after that, humans first entered Europe. As ancient migrations began to fill the New World 150 centuries before our time, we became a global species for the first time.
Today, we stand at the precipice of another cultural revolution as great as the one that first led our distant ancestors out of Africa. We are currently engaged in bringing about the next great leap forward for the human race — journeying to the stars.
