Interview with NASA's Scott Lambros - James Webb Space Telescope, plus the formation of the Moon, an exposed exoplanet, and Comet NEOWISE
This is a special episode of Astronomy News with The Cosmic Companion, as it marks both the first show to begin our third season, and this installment is the first partly recorded in our new studio. Most special of all, we take an inside look at the James Webb Space Telescope. Scott Lambros, NASA's Instrument Systems Manager for this revolutionary telescope, joins us this week, giving us his first-hand story of this next-generation space telescope.
We also look at Comet NEOWISE, entering the evening skies of the northern hemisphere this week. We’ll tell you how astronomers discovered this icy visitor from the outer reaches of the solar system, and how you can see it in the night sky.
We will also look at the exposed core of an alien planet, see how the gravitational center of the solar system may not be where you think, and talk about what metals on the Moon could tell us about our planetary companion.
Here’s tomorrow episode of the show, in a sneak preview for our VIP subscribers:
