Astronomers have long known that a fraction of stars eat their planets under certain conditions. However, this was thought to be a fairly rare occurrence, but new research suggests these events may be far more common than thought.
Like the Ancient Greek god Chronos, as many as one-third of stars eat their own planets, a new study reveals.
While stars are largely composed of lighter elements such as hydrogen and helium, rocky planets like Earth are rich in heavy elements, such as iron and silicon.
